How many pairs of socks do I bring?

I loook at piles of clothes on every piece of furniture in my home and ponder the amount of contact solution, deoderant and toothpaste I'll need for 4 months. I can't live without my hippie dresses or scarves yet I'm trying my hardest to avoid being "the girl with too much stuff." The wonderful people at Kripalu told me to bring my "fun" clothes, when I hinted at how daunting it was to decide what to bring. Yoga clothes and fun clothes each day???? That's 2 outfits a day mutiplied by 7 by 4 by 4 turns out to be a lot; at least I have laundry detergent. Packing for Kripalu is harder than I imagined. Emotions of leaving my family are also settling in. It's helpful to have supportive people cheering me on. I could use some cheering on for the packing process. Any tips on how to save space in a closet?

  2. I've experienced this moment many times. I say, keep it simple: tank tops, t-shirts, loose jeans (painter's or carpenter's are the best), sweat pants, a few sweaters and leggings. Maybe a scarf or two, but then again I'm an extremist, so I'd take the whole "four months away on a spiritual journey" to its nth degree.

In terms of closet/drawer space - roll all of your clothes into tight little burrito-like thingy's. I learned that from a man in the military. It keeps them wrinkle-free and you save a lot of space.

Good luck and may the Divine be with you.

  3. I'm thinking flip-flops. My prayers are with you. May you find all you yearn for and then some.
